Agreed... but there are lights and a crossbuck pointing the other way.ZachL wrote:I'm gonna take a guess and say that the cantilever protects Trotter Street because there aren't any sidelights facing it..cabman701 wrote:My only guess... and it is just a guess... is that the road leading to / from the school used to end there. It appears they closed that entrance and moved it down to the other end of the football field / track at some point. Kind of crazy that the cantilever is still there.freebrickproductions wrote:I wonder why this cantilever is here?

It's quite the opposite, actually! I went back in time on Google Earth, and lo and behold, that cantilever actually used to protect a road!!cabman701 wrote:Agreed... but there are lights and a crossbuck pointing the other way.ZachL wrote:I'm gonna take a guess and say that the cantilever protects Trotter Street because there aren't any sidelights facing it..cabman701 wrote:My only guess... and it is just a guess... is that the road leading to / from the school used to end there. Good investigative work there.ZachL wrote:It's quite the opposite, actually! I went back in time on Google Earth, and lo and behold, that cantilever actually used to protect a road!!
It's kinda weird how the railroad didnt remove that cantilever, but I'd assume it dates back to the 1980s because its a Safetran "bridge" cantilever
Cool that you found that. I followed quite a huge controversy regarding those wig wags about 10 years ago when the railroad decided the wags were not providing adequate protection and the RR wanted to put in the gates. They are just strictly decoration now since the gates were installed.freebrickproductions wrote:Richmond, CA wig wags:

But my new question. Why hasn't the railroad taken out the extra light(or turn them around) and why didn't they turn the crossbuck around? Was the road just taken out?ZachL wrote:I'm gonna take a guess and say that the cantilever protects Trotter Street because there aren't any sidelights facing it..cabman701 wrote:My only guess... and it is just a guess... is that the road leading to / from the school used to end there.
