Apparently that line was owned and operated by Union Pacific over 32 years ago!

Well, the Union Pacific as a name dates all the way back to 1862, though the UP we all know and love today dates back to 1969 with the formation of the final incarnation of the Southern Pacific, which merged with the third incarnation of UP in 1998:

Active crossing in the small town of Homer in eastern Illinois:
https://www.google.com/maps/@40.0352068 ... 6656?hl=en

This is an NS crossing which was recently upgraded with new signals including LED's. Here is what it used to look like: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.0349021 ... 1664?hl=en

The next crossing over (which is not on Streetview) looks like it has been upgraded as well. It used to have just lights only but now appears to have gates. You can see them deactivating here from the same train in the 1st link: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.0350643 ... 6656?hl=en

Not sure how that has to do with my post.

I think this Smily threw me off a bit, as it seemed you were surprised to find out that UP was running trains back then (TBH though, UP and KCS are the only two US-based Class 1s to have names that date back to the 1800s).
They/Them for me, please.
