And here's one I recorded in Mars Bluff, SC, late last year:
They/Them for me, please.

They/Them for me, please.

Re: Some flat sounding bells
Here's a very bad RACO/Griswold bell out in California:
Almost sounds like the hammer's worn through the gong!

Re: Some flat sounding bells
The second to last crossing in this video certainly features a rather flat-sounding pair of Safetran bells:
They/Them for me, please.

Here's a WCH mechanical bell that sounds like the gong is cracked:
This Hybrid bell's also fairly worn-out:

Re: Some flat sounding bells
This GS E bell on the KCS Heavener Sub sounds like its trying to emulate a Westinghouse Hybrid bell. Crossing in question is at 15:41. GS Type 1 possibly?
Proud owner of 7 mechanical bells along with a pair of safetran 12x20 lights and a 8 inch light. Been a fan of trains since I was little. Main place I railfan on, The Sedalia Sub.

Re: Some flat sounding bells
The signal shown in the video looks to be newer and the bell on it's a GS Type 2, so I'm gonna guess the bad bell there's a GS Type 2 as well. Or at least supposed to be one, lol.Nascar Fan007 wrote: Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:34 pm This GS E bell on the KCS Heavener Sub sounds like its trying to emulate a Westinghouse Hybrid bell. Here's another bad-sounding GS Type 2, though not as off as the one in the above posts:
They/Them for me, please.

Re: Some flat sounding bells
Another very-off-sounding GS Type 1 here, thanks to the fog at the time of recording:
They/Them for me, please.
