Check out the lone pedestrian signal a little down the way...
https://www.google.com/maps/@33.8897491 ... 312!8i6656

It had a matching partner on the other side of the road going the opposite direction:

By the way... none of the above is here anymore. This is what is looks like today:

You'd think those crossings would have two crossbucks on the signal or at least another crossbuck on a post on the other side of the crossing.

Sure is odd! I got to use the underpass this morning. The gates were on their way down for a train when I approached. My first thought was :Awww: since I was on the way to work, then I saw the guy in front of me dip down the little access way, so I followed him.

Agreed. My guess is the bike path (or whatever it was) was meant to be one way... since they had a path on each side of the road. But you know for a fact people probably didn't pay attention to that.

Odd looking, but I understand why they did it.

Active crossing in Cleveland, TN:

I'm assuming this is a downgrade in Chattanooga:

Here too:

It appears I stumbled upon some familiar territory:

Check out the old split crossbuck and cateye SORS sign in Memphis, TN:

Unfortunately this year the crossbuck was replaced:
