It looks like a wayside horn, but there is no horn!
To let train crews know that the crossing is active. It's normally used in quiet zones, but that ain't a quiet zone!

Interesting set-up on this NS line in Georgia, likely done due to the curve:

A pure 1980s NS install:

Some classic 8 inch gated Safetran signals from the Southern Railway with later GRS gate mechs!

Just a heads up to people.
The WABCO bell at Palmer Street has now, sadly been replaced with oddly enough a Safetran Type 2 E-Bell.

I'm pretty disappointed, i wanted to see that bell in action.

That was actually a US&S mechanical bell. Evers Street still has one though:

New bell is likely an NEG e-bell that's faded a bit.

The former third track at the crossing is still there so not necessarily incorrect.

I wonder if that signal would active when the crossing would activate.

That'd be a good place to film a train.

David is correct that it was a US&S e-bell. I hope to see that crossing on the site soon as I have sent the pictures to him, but they will be five years or older by the time they're up. :LOL3:

You mean US&S m-bell? Feel free to get some newer pictures as well, though it is a shame that CSX replaced the US&S bell there, as it sounded nice with that GS Type 1.
