Washington County fitted green ball LEDs to the main roads around here in 2001. I have seen probably two or three fail during that time. The dotted LEDs are pieces o' crap. They used them down in Tigard and they're failing left and right, being replaced with ball LEDs.

Most LEDs have a rated service life of 100,000 hours which is equal to 11 and a half years. Most last between 5 to 8 years.

Something unusual I'm seeing in our area now are ball green LEDs burning out. I've seen about 4 or so burn out in my area recently.

The red and yellows are just fine though. I'm sure Yellow will last the 10 years it says it will. I haven't seen a red die out yet.

Most all of SW Michigan's traffic lights are yellow...some have black backgrounds....

Also in Wyoming (city not state), there is a brand of LED Light that is white colored when not lit and what appears to be a tiny pin-prick hole in the center of the light...does anyone know what brand this is??http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 8,,0,-7.67

Actually it's a clear lens but are they like these? http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&layer=c ... 91728&z=17

Those are extremely rare around here. In fact that's the only intersection I've ever seen with them. The intersection was recently rebuilt and these signals were put in to replace the old ones. Usually Washington County does ball LEDs but apparently when they placed the order this is what they got. They've been up for about three years...so far so good.

I believe so! I'm trying to remember where else these are...there's quite a few in the Wyoming area...I'll have to investigate...

I don't know much about traffic light makers as much as grade crossing lights.

I do know that GE/Harmon does have a ball LED light on their site too.

There was a third, but I can never remember it....

Lately in my area, it seems that as the current LEDs fail, they're starting to replace them with ball LEDs...
