those plastic lights didn't seem to last out here

Those wind guards and a total wast anyway. They don't really do any good, if the gate is up, the wind will bend the gate right over the thing and in high winds when the gates go up, it could get caught on it.

Found this Safetran Type 1 in Appleton, Wisconsin on the CN line:



Sadly, the line was dead and I didn't get to hear it. Here's the crossing on Google Maps:

As you can see, it's not that safe for people coming from the feeding road on the T-intersection. (Summit St.) The actual crossing is on Spencer St.

There is a lot of Safetran Hybrids in my area, There is was to much!!! They are commonly seen on the CSX crossings on the Erie West Subdivision, There is a couple on the NS crossings.

There are no Safetran Type 1s that I know of around here tho.

Safetran Type 1 Electronic bells are my favorite type of electronic bells. Type 3 has somewhat of a trebled ping to it but with the Type 1, its very clear and realistic to a mechanical bell gets me every time why WC Hayes e bells sound like fire siren. Safetran Type 2 The fact that It sound CLOSER to a GSI bell and looks similar to it. GSI Bells are completely cheap( made from PVC pipe ) and they don't sound all that well and they are WAY too common. ASC E Bells, very rare you see those, but they sound and look pretty cool with the "snowcap" and not to mention GE Transportation, who's e bells sound like crap.
