IIRC, it's meant to help project the bell sound onto the crossing. Certainly weird though.
Yep, that was my first thought too. They could also be there to block the sound from being loud to the businesses and residencies nearby, too.

NO IT IS NOT. I've already had to tell you this at least two times already, the stop sign is protecting the intersection, NOT the crossing!

Also, both the traffic and railroad crossing signals weren't even fully activated either. :Roll:
