I don't like being the bearer of more bad news, however I just found this https://extranet.artc.com.au/docman/Doc ... ?696780119
I seems that another crossing on the Melbourne - Sydney line is going to be upgraded (trashed) on March 6th.

This time the victim is the crossing at Locksley, on the Nagambie - Locksley Rd. This is the best GSV image I could find, it's hard to tell exactly what equipment it has https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-36.834 ... 328!8i1664

Found a clear picture of it on Vicsig. Sadly, I can't tell what the bell is...

It looks to be silver and the body appears to be off to one side. Maybe Safetran?

I agree, it looks like a Safetran. It's a nice looking setup, shame it's going to be removed.

I also recorded some video at the crossing that I'll post soon.

In other news, the Hybrid Bell at Royal Park has been moved and white crosses have been painted around the outside of the gong. I imagine this bell is in its final days too:

Finally, for something a little cheerier, I discovered that the level crossing at Spotswood station has the only WCH signal base I've seen in Melbourne:

Thankfully, this crossing still has mechanical bells....for now:

I'm done, Metro need to be dumped by the state government. In the mean time, I'll be giving them several thumbs down.

Does Allendale Road and Main Hurstbridge Road still have hybrid bells, or were they replaced at the same time?

Pretty weird, considering that you saw Metro staff cleaning the bells late last year. Hopefully it's not the case.

Racecourse Road in Pakenham has WCH bases on the gated signals (though it's a late 1990's install).

This crossing still has hybrid bells. But I don't know for how much longer...

Here's the video of the new Ivanhoe bells. Sorry about the aspect ratio with the new footage, I'm not sure what happened there. Hopefully it's not too annoying:

I actually had a feeling that the Teardrop bell was gonna be replaced this year, and it happened! Wonder what other crossings will get E-Bells this year?

Good video, thanks for keeping us updated. It feels weird saying that, almost like saying I enjoyed a funeral  It seems like a waste of taxpayers money replacing those bells when there was nothing wrong with them, if they were dead or dying I could understand. In the same time it took to replace them they could have done maintenance instead, and the m-bells probably would have lasted for years to come. The new bells sound like GS type 2, and the one that replaced the teardrop is mounted crooked. I wonder what happened to the type 3's being used now? Maybe these were old stock.

Just a thought..... I wonder if those white crosses have been put there to mark the spots where the inside of the gong has been worn by the striker. There is a white cross at the bottom where the striker would be hitting now, and maybe the other white crosses mark where the striker previously hit before the gong was rotated. Having said that, it will probably be replaced anyway
