Looks like it, and that new e-bell is a General Signals e-bell. CSX used them quite a bit years ago (and still do, occasionally, it seems), but now-a-days, they primarily use NEG e-bells.MapsSurfer wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2019 1:38 pm Here there used to be a, correct me if I'm wrong, a Black MI Bell!

Sadly, it was replaced with an Electronic Bell, I don't know what type though.
All I know is that both the FEC and CSX are crazy about these bells, they're everywhere down here.

Yeah I think I heard a GS type 4 on the Plant City railcam awhile back. Not sure which crossing it was, but if I have time I could drive around and have a look.freebrickproductions wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2019 10:37 pmLooks like it, and that new e-bell is a General Signals e-bell. Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
You mean GS Type 3? Haven't heard of any Type 4s, outside of a few low-pitched Type 3s that someone found on a BNSF crossing somewhere (I think in IL) that Tommy showed me once.ZachL wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:28 amYeah I think I heard a GS type 4 on the Plant City railcam awhile back. Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
I've seen where CSX installed a GS Type 3 at a crossing in Terre Haute, IN, so I wouldn't be surprised if they're beginning to use them on occasion now.ZachL wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2019 7:37 amYeah, that's what I meant.freebrickproductions wrote: Tue Jul 30, 2019 9:14 pmYou mean GS Type 3? Quoting an old post because I swear I was not reading it when I did this...but I did actually wave at the camera, as shown in this thread!ZachL wrote: Sat Feb 02, 2019 11:13 amSo that's where that thing is. Maybe I should go there and wave the next time I am up there.LARDLOGO wrote:Virtual Railfan camera.

Probably due to the length of the gates, but then again some railroads like to have tall masts.MapsSurfer wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2019 11:50 pm This made me laugh, can anyone explain?![]()

There was a period of time where Norfolk Southern loved tall masts.NathanFromEngland wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 4:08 amProbably due to the length of the gates, but then again some railroads like to have tall masts.MapsSurfer wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2019 11:50 pm This made me laugh, can anyone explain?![]()

They still do, at least on occasion, from what I can tell.ZachL wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 7:22 amThere was a period of time where Norfolk Southern loved tall masts.NathanFromEngland wrote: Fri Aug 02, 2019 4:08 amProbably due to the length of the gates, but then again some railroads like to have tall masts.MapsSurfer wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2019 11:50 pm This made me laugh, can anyone explain?![]()
