It's sad to see that this old, vintage crossing has been replaced, there is a saying "if it isn't broke, don't replace it"

It is "Gary, Indiana" though, considering around there you see many abandoned buildings, old traffic signals, they even abandoned a railroad IIRC a few years ago, but i think the town is slowly undergoing regeneration, but a lot of work IMO has to be done.freebrickproductions wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2020 3:10 pmWouldn't be too surprised if NS gave the maintainer some money and told them to replace it. Interesting crossing layout, but why does the signal on the eastern side have lights pointing towards the direction of a fence?

This late 70's/early 80's SP installation remains interestingly unchanged, more interestingly it has WCH(?) 4 inch gate lights.

I looked up information of this STE crossing, but oddly enough the last review of the crossing was in March 1995, and it doesn't list any trains, so i assume the line must be used at certain or rare periods.

The WCH Gate lights here were replaced with NEG gate lights between 2014-2016.

Wonder why both Safetran bells are turned to face the road?

Interesting crossing layout, the Safetran(?) signals to the left appear to be much older.

This line in Brazil looks to be used, but one of the signals is missing a light!

Yellow WCH Bell in Brazil.
I've never seen a bell painted yellow before.

It's probably a Brazilian make, it's been replaced by that yellow bell so can't say what it was. Most likely Brazilian though. It's not a WCH Mechanical Bell, but what on earth could it be>

I think it's the same bell, just with a new coat of paint.MapsSurfer wrote: Wed Mar 25, 2020 7:29 pmIt's probably a Brazilian make, it's been replaced by that yellow bell so can't say what it was. Most likely Brazilian though. It's not a WCH Mechanical Bell, but what on earth could it be>

Certainly at least the same model of bell. Base and latch are different from a standard WCH bell.

Re: Google Maps Scavenger Hunt
The CTA has a few of those still, interestingly enough. There's another pair on the ped signals across the tracks:pluey200 wrote: Thu Apr 02, 2020 8:55 pm This one in Cicero IL at 49th Ave has a WRRS lantern gate light
