I recently moved and now live in Largo FL. I pass this emergency signal on my way to work now, and have actually seen it activate for a fire truck already.

Like most of these, all the signals flash yellow when it's in "normal" mode, except for this one signal on the end. It has a red flashing arrow in the bottom lens, along with a sign explaining you can turn left after stopping, once it is safe to do so.

I was coming the other way when the signals activated for the fire truck, so I didn't get to see what this left turn signal looks like when it is "active", hopefully one day I will.

From what I can gather my mother (Who has lived in the area since 1979) says this signal has been around for as long as she can remember. I have no clue how old that type of signal truly is so im just going on my mothers words.

Also, A lot of 4 way flashing stops are usually on newer poles while this one is still hanging by wire. From what it looks like in this thread lights hung on the wire directly seem to be rare and unusual nowadays.

From what I can gather my mother (Who has lived in the area since 1979) says this signal has been around for as long as she can remember. I have no clue how old that type of signal truly is so im just going on my mothers words.

Looks to be a Crouse-hinds Type R cluster, so likely from the 1960s or maybe even the 1970s.

Also, span wires are rare in some areas but common in others. I know they're common across the southeast and in much of New York, along with other states (like Ohio and Michigan, IIRC).

Old Crouse-hinds Art-Deco and Eagle signals there. The Decos would be 1930s to 1959, and the Eagles would be 1960s at the latest.

I've driven past this signal thousands of times, from memory it's been there since the late 1980's but I've never seen it activated.

The yellow lights are the original incandescent ones (not sure of the maker) and they've never had visors or backgrounds. There appears to be some kind of bracket below the lights for mounting a sign but it's never had one. I'm wondering if they didn't finish installing the signal as there seems to be no power anywhere nearby.

There is a yellow shipping container behind the signal which has "Emergency Container" written on the door, although it is now covered with graffiti. Not sure if the two items are related.

Those are 12 inch Eagle Flat-back signals and date to the 1960s at the latest, most likely. Wonder if they were imported from the American Eagle Signal Co.?
