That's probably what happened, sadly. Wonder if they tried to fix it, and why they didn't go with a mechanical bell as the replacement?

True, along with being lighter weight (so they're easier to install).

To be fair there for of a heritage excursion railroad than they are a museum per se. Although at the Musée ferroviaire canadien (Canadian Railway Museum) near Montreal, they do have a pair of modern 8" signals with WCH E-bells which guard a crossing for visitors on their museum grounds, the crossing is a trolley line which runs around the museum. I think the signals themselves are less of museum pieces and more just there to actually guard the crossing (even though they haven't actually worked for a while if I recall correctly ).

Unfortuately, this recent video shows that it has gone dead

Good news! The Teardrop is working again, as per this video recorded earlier today by a YouTube user!

Both e-bells appear to be NEG e-bells as well...

At least the old EM gate mechs and cantilevers still remain...
