it would also be the case why the bell in partcular that isn't shown would be the one that sounds dead.

Both sound fine to me.
One of them does sound a bit rougher at points though, but far from the worst Teardrop I've heard...
They/Them for me, please.

Unrelated, but here's a strange sounding alarm, that hasn't been changed since the late 1980's!

Sadly, it's beginning to sound sicker, here is a video from October 2017.

Here's a video of a few pedestrian crossings in Sweden with some rather interesting signals. One of them has a mechanical bell that sounds like it's on its way out:

A very flat-sounding WABCO Teardrop bell here, along with a rather weak and rough sounding WABCO bell on the other signal:

There's a slightly flat and rough sounding WRRS bell in this video.

One of the bells here is dead, and the other one can't even strike the gong properly.

One of the bells here sound rough, but i just love the sound out of the both of them.

I have posted that here before.

Crossing has since sadly been upgraded, using that annoying black yodalarm and those ugly Polish-looking gate mechanisms, Lydney Junction was also upgraded too.

Not quite a bell, again, but one of the alarms at this crossing in Cornwall sounded rather jumpy.

Although as of September 2018, the issue appears to have been resolved.
