Found this really old wooden crossbuck near Lithgow, NSW.

I'm willing to bet it's the same one seen in this 1992 picture, even though it says "A subsequent trip has shown that the sign has been removed. One wonders if it was preserved or destroyed?"

Also found this crossing at Ben Bullen which had a Teardrop bell replaced by a hybrid bell!

Sooo I found this website called 'The wayback machine' which essentially allows you to visit websites which have shut down. Well I decided to look up Westinghouse Rail and....

No, those are General Signals type 2's like most crossings in Melbourne.
I did notice something interesting in the 2009 street view image. Somebody decorated one of the gates with Christmas tinsel!

Sadly, I think they removed all the other m-bells along the line (including the Teardrop bells).

Not sure what happened to GSV but previously there was an image from 2010 with a good close-up view of the teardrop bell. GSV has been real messed up lately. Also the teardrop bell has been rotated 90 degrees from it's previous position, the gong used to face approaching road traffic.
Those new gated signals only saw action for a few years. The line is now out of service and is occasionally re-opened for heritage trains.
I remember the crossing at Leumeah quite well, it closed in the mid 1990's and was replaced by an overpass further to the north.
The crossing was located on Old Leumeah Rd which continued across the line at the northern end of the station (it was just called Leumeah Rd back then IIRC). That surviving signal actually isn't too far from it's original position, it was located on the north-east quadrant of the crossing and faced towards the south, most likely to protect traffic entering from O'Sullivan Rd. The crossing had WRRS/GRS Type B gate mechs and McK&H lights, pretty sure the crossing had a hybrid bell on one side and a WRRS or WCH bell on the other side. The pedestrian crossing had GRS semaphore gate mechs.

I actually saw a news report which had the crossing in it, hence how I found out about it. I'll post the video it was in later, but I do remember it having the same equipment you've mentioned.
I wonder why they chose to keep that gateless signal after they removed the crossing?

Great find there, specially the page about the Westinghouse hybrid bell. Interesting that they stuck with the same brochure from 1983!

It's very frustrating and saddening and it's not just VIC but pretty much all of Australia. We are basically down to 2 kinds of bell (Safetran type 3 or WCH e-bells), plus General Signals e-bells in Melbourne.
Most new Australian installations are very predictable, with only 2 kinds of gate mechs (Safetran or WCH) and 2 kinds of lights (Westinghouse or United Group). Gone are the days of having an interesting variety of equipment on our crossings
