Where are the front lights?

Really old signal:

I wonder why these lights are so far apart...
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 8,,3,-1.14

This signal has seen better days:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 47,,0,1.64

This crossing has vandal guards on the lights:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 69,,0,4.15

Another signal with vandal guards and a cats-eyed crossbuck:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 13,,2,0.53

Another cats-eyed crossbuck:
https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ll=3 ... 6,,3,-5.38

Classic WRRS set-up with vandal guards on the lights:

Does there really have to be three sets of lights here?

The lights pointing to the right protect the exit to this private property and the the ones pointing to the left protect this road.

The Delhi Wig-Wag is probably the most remote Wig-Wag in the United States. The Delhi Wig-Wag has always been one of my favorite Wig-Wags.

I've been through that crossing countless times years ago. Of course I'm now 3 hours away from it, but if I ever get back up that way I'll get some pics. In the meantime, here are some from February 2002:

...and this short little crossbuck is so cute! It would look great in my yard:
