I contacted the NARM today about the bell. They say it no longer works.freebrickproductions wrote:The signals actually had lights. I believe they were WRRS 8 inch incandescents. Here are some screenshots from street view before it was updated:cabman701 wrote:Nice find!freebrickproductions wrote:Bell only crossing at Higdon Road in Huntsville, AL on the NARM line. I'm not sure if the bell still works though:

Looks like they might have planned at one time for at least lights... since the mast on the other side is a standard mast (and not wooden or something simpler). I don't see any markings on either pole that would suggest there were lights on them at one time and then they were removed.

It appears that a visor was missing from one of the lights.

That crossing was featured in this recent news report:CIC755 wrote:One in Pittsburgh, PA:

Two in St. Louis, MO, both on the UP line along the Mississippi. One was on Mott Street, can't remember the other one. Mott Street has two m-bells, the other a WCH e-bell, but used to have an m-bell.

If you look at the background (http://youtu.be/WPK-4dC37Sc?t=2m6s) you can see people riding bikes on the tracks!freebrickproductions wrote:That crossing was featured in this recent news report:CIC755 wrote:One in Pittsburgh, PA:

Re: Bell only crossings
I was just searching through Google Street View in the Ann Arbor Michigan area and I came across this!

The neighboring crossing has a mechanical bell. I think it is made by WRRS but I'm not sure.

Re: Bell only crossings
That's either a Griswold, RACO, or early Safetran bell.ToledoRailfan wrote:
