Maybe it was just Kim who lived in Narre Warren (I might be wrong on that though). I remember seeing an episode which featured the inside of the Fountain Gate shopping centre located in Narre Warren.
Keep your eye out in case they show anymore crossings in the series.
Get ready to be confused because Fountian gate is actually Southland in Cheltenham. It shows the bridge that goes over Nepean Highway, and also the old food court many times. Also Fountian Lakes is Patterson Lakes.
A weird thing about the show is that whenever it cut to Kim's house, it would always play a Safetran mechanical bell in the background. Every. Single. Time. There's actually quite a few crossings featured throughout the series, but because I haven't watched it in such a long time, I've forgotten where all the crossings were...
In the Mango Espadille, after they showed the crossing, they were on the Sandringham line, even though they live on the Frankston line... I can't remember if it was the movie or an episode, but there was quite a long scene that was filmed at Bonbeach station. I remember it always used to be in the ads for the show back in late 2000s, and I was amazed that a tv show was filmed so close to home..!
Btw I really wish more Safetran bells were left in Melbourne, if stupid Black Saturday didn't happen and Connex didn't have a system meltdown, we could still have many of the classic bells that we used to have... and even the Safetran type 1 and Pasco Vale (I think that's where it was).

By the way, does anyone know how to obtain crossing equipment through LXRA, I want to try and get an e bell from Seaford road when it's removed next year.

I could of sworn I saw the inside of Fountain Gate shopping centre in one episode. I'll check some of the other episodes of the series and see what crossings are shown.
I wonder why they showed footage of the Dendy Street crossing when they live near the Frankston line? Probably stock footage. I remember there was a Season 9 episode of "How I Met Your Mother" that had a Connex train in the background of a scene!
And yes, Pascoe Vale did have the Safetran Type 1 e-bell.
Also, how did this thread go from a crossing discussion one to a Kath & Kim one.

Another Kath & Kim find...
I swear you can hear a hybrid bell at 10:56 in the episode "Inside Out".
EDIT: At 14:56 (same episode), a hybrid bell can be heard again! This time, with a train horn (from a Comeng) and the sound of it crossing the road.

I think we may have a secret signal fan as a producer in Kath & Kim. lol i think most episodes have at least one rail related scene in it.

That's what I've been thinking too. I'll be on the lookout for more crossings signals in some of the other episodes available on 9now.

I don't know how to contact them directly, but just purchased a pair of Westinghouse incandescent lights from VR Workshops at Albert Park
http://vrantiques.com/
They got the lights through the LXRA and have more available, you could call the number and ask them about bells, may be easier to deal through them since they already have a relationship with the LXRA.

Sounds interesting, nice to see some classic equipment being featured on a TV show! I guess Daniel Andrews probably isn't a huge Kath & Kim fan then

I can confirm that a signal did fan produce Kath & Kim. In "Another Announcement", there's a Safetran m-bell audible at 12:09.
EDIT: I noticed that in "The Mango Espadrille", another crossing can be seen out the windows of the train they're riding (at 5:22). Judging by the light arrangement, I'm pretty sure it's the crossing at
Ripponlea. At the time, that crossing had two Safetran bells (which I mentioned a few pages ago

Notice how the light arrangement is the same?

EDIT 2: They also pass through the crossing at Prahran at 6:56.

One thing that I noticed is that it seems like Metro, in when choosing which crossings to upgrade to e-bells, primarily chose the crossings with more "traditional" mechanical bells over the Hybrid bells, though that's probably due to the fact that Hybrid bells require less maintenance than other mechanical bells, if it's true. Also, I guess Metro is still installing relatively interesting bells with the General Signals e-bells considering how many of them are adjusted Type 1s and how rare General Signals e-bells are in Australia outside of Metro's system (from what I've observed, anyways).
