this crossings is only about 5 min from my job. While passing by to get gas at the nearby chevron, i noticed that one of the gate lights on the median raco signal were on even though the crossing is not activated. Personally ive never seen the crossing activated as it is a end of the spur crossing with the rest turned to bike trail. though i was being tricked by the sun so i passed by at night and 2 out of the 3 gate lights were on. any idea what would cause this? Wiring error?
ps this crossing used to have all raco signal but recently got looks like safetran uprades so maybe someone screwed up during the upgrade?
havent heard this particular one and probably wont dont really think trains come down this far anymore but i have heard the crossing next to it which would be clinton with two teardrops on raco signals. they sound really nice!

I suspect wiring error and illuminated lights not noticed in bright daylight.
Or something conductive fell onto the terminal block shorting it and allowing electricity to get to the lights.
Did you report it to the railraod using the 800 number on the crossing - if any?
I stored such numbers in my cell phone.

havent really had time to stop and search for a number but i will look into it. kinda been busy with work.
i imagine sjvr isnt too concerned with doing too much since this crossing doesnt see much train traffic if any. like i said before looks like they started some upgrades but got bored and didnt finish. kinda odd only two of the three gate lights would lite up. maybe if they come and fix it i can catch the crossing activated.
The SJVR isn't really good about putting up emergency numbers on a lot of old crossings. They even spray painted over the old SP milepost number. The only way I found the DOT number for that crossing was searching on the FRA's site.

But I would need to learn the name of the street.

What good is the DOT number if one does not know what telephone number to call to report the crossing?
