I finally got a job doing signal work! It's for Railroad Controls Limited, based out of Benbrook, TX. I'll be starting on January 18, flying to Fort Worth, TX, and getting training. After I'm done there, I'll be going to Chicago to start my first signal project.
I start at $16/hr, and after a year, it's $20/hr. If you decide to become a foreman, it's $28/hr. Also provided are dental/vision/health after 90 days.
I'm really excited...and I FINALLY have something to look forward to!

...and before somebody says anything, they do install those disgusting wayside horns...YUCK!

I leave for training tomorrow morning at 6 am. I'll be flying to Dallas/Fort Worth Int'l Airport, and then a shuttle will be taking me to the hotel I'm staying at. It's the Holiday Inn Express of Fort Worth. Very nice place. The drive to RCL offices will be about 3 minutes...not very far...and the hotel provides a shuttle that will be taking us trainees to the office each morning. It's from 8 am to 5 pm Monday-Thursday, and Friday, it's from 8 am to 11 am...then it's back to the airport to head home!
I'm pretty excited

Got back from Fort Worth on Friday night at about 8 pm EST. It was a very fun trip. The class was fun...and I found out there are 19 of us they hired this past week! They have tons of projects on BNSF lines in California, Kansas, and Illinois. I'll be going to Naperville, IL to install ATS (Automatic Train Stop) equipment. I'll be making my way to Naperville on Monday, the 25th. 8 days on, 6 days off is the schedule.
