This regards this pedestrian railroad crossing at the Brockton MBTA train station:

Some time last week, the malfunctioning WCH mechanical bells were finally replaced with new electronic WCH bells! They aren't as loud as the old bells were (in fact, the train's locomotive even drowned them out for a bit when going through the crossing!) The original Safetran 8" lights and relay case are still intact, though.

These are now the third bells this crossing has had installed. (Prior to the mechanical WCH bells, the crossing had Safetran mechanical bells.) I'm not sure if the Montello station had its bells replaced, but I'm sure it didn't as the WCH mechanical bells there work just fine (although they are terribly out-of-sync with each other).

Any comments?

Why did they use WCH e-bells?!!!! :No1:

What did you mean by malfunctioning mechanicals? Were they clicking, not working, or what?

First, I think the MBTA now uses WCH for all their new crossing bells, and Safetran for everything else.

Second, last I heard that crossing with the mechanical bells, only one of them was ringing instead of both, and this bell would skip on occasion. Last week when I was on the train to visit one of my friends at Bridgewater State College, someone on the train told me the crossing's bells didn't work at all. I actually wasn't that surprised to see them put e-bells on the crossing. I've never even heard them in person until today.

What's your opinion on those WCH E-bells? Not too many people like them. Only 2 people I know of actually like those things.

They didn't sound too bad to me.

Broadway's WCH e-bells were the first electronic bells I had ever heard in person too. I also don't think they're that bad.
