Tehachapi Loop Overview

Tehachapi Loop was built to gain 45 feet of badly needed elevation without actually going anywhere.
As this much-reduced-in-size photo shows, longer trains pass over themselves.

Even with that loop, the grade still looks pretty steep. I bet those engines are purring pretty loud!

It's the ultimate way to make a reversing loop at the end of your layout and call it prototypical!
