Western Cullen Hayes Electronic Bell -tone adjustment video

Hey folks,
I got my first Western-Cullen-Hayes crossing bell which was replaced by a General Signals Type 2 for the sake of uniformity and reliability, this is a really neat bell and of a very good construction if nothing else. I took the time to record a video of the bell going through the different rate of tone speed which is controlled by a simple and well marked adjustment screw that is explained by instructions on the underside of the weather cap.



Interestingly, I was told this was a "Type 1" , but it had the newer looking and better protected circuit board. It has one long ring and then starts ringing normally with a deeper tone. For the record of trying to discern the differences between this and other electronic bells, this one was manufactured in late March of 2004. Ill be happy to ring it for more videos at different adjustments or distances. Thanks,

Kind of sounds like a type 2 tone, but what you have is a Generation 1 e-bell. That's a bit on the rare side Today.

Generation 1 like you have has the one long ring, then the other sequential rings. The Generation 2 does not have the first long ring.

thats interesting, the WCH bell looks like it is a lot sturdier then a GS e-bell.

On a somewhat related note, has anyone noticed that the pitch of the e-bell on WCH's site is higher than the pitch of the type 1 and 1.5 bells? Was that tone actually produced at one point or do you think it was just made like that for the sound clip on the website?
