faulty ratchet wheel, bad hold clear, no/bad snub contact motor/electrical burnout a lot of stuff is possible and more than likely more than one thing is wrong with that gate, ive seen video of some gates doing that but non as bad as this clip, thats just pass ridiculous.
also what nightmare did you have, a gate dropping on you. That happened to one of my friends luckily csx uses fiber glass gates and has slow snubs and lowing speeds, if it were union pacific i wouldnt be talking to my friend anymore or talking to him sitting in a bed not responding. :Scared:

"Thats them" man oh man you've defiantly been in the south too long LOL :LOL3: , wch has a new gate mech thats spouse to kill the motor if a problem arises ill dig up the clip and send it off to you sometime
