What is a "gate guard"?
What does it do?
Years ago, I told a signal maintainer thathey should put a sawtooth pattern on the bottom of their gates: \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/
It would be harmless, but look as though it would inflict damage so that few would try to run descending gates.
But they should also have 6 seconds of signal activation before gates begin to descend.

Anybody notice the price of gas at the Shell station? Seems pretty low... especially for Miami. Wonder how long ago GSV was through there?

notice the only time people stop is when the gate is coming down
anyone who crosses the track 3 seconds after the lights start up is a violation
my point right here
what railroads need to do is add cameras to the railroad crossings and fine anyone who runs the gate, Union Pacific and a city in Texas are doing that check this out. http://tti.tamu.edu/conferences/rail09/ ... truck.mpeg Must view in internet explore
Thank you so much, TRAIN, for the interesting videos and link.
Hope the trucker was fined.
He.asily could have stopped.
He would have broken that gate had it not been hinged.

yep fined $75 for running the gate
spring did its job and saved it.
without a doubt the gate would have been broken if it were break away.
like i said people see the lights and hit the gas not much you can do about it.

In this link... that Mustang was going the WRONG WAY. He started to back up as the video ended... wonder if he hit the other gate? Either way... hope he got a ticket too!
