well when you have a medical emergency your spouse to call 911. But I wouldn't wait for some fruitcake ems to show up and lose 3 mins that I could have to get to the hospital. However he was speeding 100 in a 55 almost double the speed limit. So in that case yah I would write a reduced ticket like 75 in a 55.
I'm not big on troopers on the side of the interstate pulling every driver thats going more than 10 mph over the limit but this case is way different.

Going 100 MPH to rush your pregnant wife to the hospital is plain ridiculous! Not only are you risking your own life, your spouse's life and that of your un-born baby... you are also risking the life of innocent people who just happen to be in your way as you try to manipulate through traffic.

Yes, I agree, waiting for EMS can cause delays... but having a baby can be done without being at the hospital. It happens all the time.

Not long ago some fella was doing the same thing not far from where I live. Speeding, wife in labor, etc. He lost control of his pickup hitting a dip in the road, went airborne, and hit somebody else head on. Killed his wife, their almost born child, and the pregnant woman driving the other car. He was unscathed, but I wouldn't want the burden his conscience must be carrying.

It might seem harsh, but the subject of this thread deserved the rap.

Better to get EMS on scene and providing competent appropriate treatment.

Say it takes 14 minutes to drive to a hospital - provided you do not make a wrong turn in your panic.
In 6 minutes EMS may be on scene, starting O2 and preventing brain damage.
You are still 8 minutes away - 8 minutes of brain damage for which you are doing nothing.

Child birth is most often no emergency.
What a shame the moron killed the other woman.
At least he will not be passing his inferior intellect on to the child.

The cost of ambulances are very high though. At least $1,000 as a base pay, plus about $50 per mile...

I'd have a heart attack if my own ambulace took me to a hospital!
And another when learning the ER bill.

(I had a kidney stone attack. I refused to go to the hospital.
Probably saved over $3,000 by staying home and doing my own EMS care.
Then I got to sue myself for malpractice and may get thou$and$! [kidding abouthat])

NEVER USE AN AMBULANCE WHEN UNNEEDED. (They will want to take you just for the money.)
YOU CAN REFUSE AN AMBULANCE TRANSPORT unless mentally incompetent from drugs, alcohol, shock.!

I'm not defending the guy, but even highly intellegent and educated people do stupid things in a panic. This one resulted in a tragedy for all involved and the community at large.

You seem relieved that his child is better off dead than (possibly) born dumb. My apologies to your offspring Robert, but you are an asshole.
