With the new addition of the Global IV yard in Joliet, UP traffic has increased throughout the UP Geneva Sub, CN Leithton Sub, and UP Springfield Sub. This is Laraway Road, and it crosses the UP Springfield Sub. This is also the crossing that features the main lead into UP's Global IV. Less than 6 months old the signals have gone through one change, their E-bells. When the crossing was put in it had two WCH E-bells, now it has two Safetran TII E-bells. The placement of the bell on both signals is rather unusual. All the lights are made from Harmon, but they did not look like Harmon when they flashed, looked more like the WCH LED light boards. Below are pictures of the unique crossing including the very unique wayside signal. All heads feature 12 LED lights, never seen this done before.

To see what the crossing used to look like, click the Google Map link below.

I like that set up
looks like something I'd set up and maintain
I like how the bells are there to warn pedestrians instead of the birds

Its interesting that U.P. used Safetran gate motors and e-bells. and not WCH motors/bells like at some of the newer setups down south on the line.

Note the date on my camera watermark. I can't believe this. I hope you didn't completely document that crossing, 'cause I already did. It's not submitted yet, but I'm going to start the page tomorrow. If you want, submit me your photos (using the e-mail on the homepage) and I'll include your photos as an update to the crossing.

Cheers,
Joshua
