This same locomotive was caught a little further up the line and is on Railpictures:

Looked like an interesting crossing, so I Googled it. Very interesting in fact, check out the cantilevers!

Spin around and there is a pedestrian crossing with bells and gates only.

Bit of trivia for you, that second crossing is where Metra stuck about 15 cars one day!!!!!

looks like they extended the inductive loops to detect traffic stopped on the tracks wounder if this was in place in 2005?

You know, I do remember that accident now that you mentioned it. I just wasn't sure if it was this same crossing or not.
