I speak my mind, if you don't like that oh well. I'll have you fill out a hurt feelings report and submit that to my office.

I've seen a guy get cracked in the groin by the counterweight on the back of a Griswold EM gate. It was at E. Johnson St. in Madison, WI. He was leaning up against the back of the signal while a train was approaching. I warned him, he ignored me. When the signals activated, the gate went down, the counterweight went up...SMACK!

No, this was a long time ago, before I had a camera.

Re: Crossing gate referred to as a weapon
If you guys remember at a crossing in Texas on the site, a motorcyclist got hit on the head by a gate and got killed by it.

Rest In Peace Guilford SD26 615!
Re: Crossing gate referred to as a weapon
When my grandpa lived in Red Bluff as a kid, he saw a train go by and after the gates went up, the car in front of him drove through and the gate just dropped on it!
It must have been a WCH mechanism

Behold the mighty beast. Of which few acknowledge, it has finally become angered. To once a train approached, the beast becomes awakened. It then draws it's weapon and aims to kill. The moment the beast has target the stupid driver, the weapon is deployed... scrapping your hood of your car... probably. He'll get smacked the crap out of by the train if not.
Wait. Nevermind.
At least the photo is good.
Which reminds me, don't you love when signals time out? So do train crews. Our one crew managed to time out the signal while on approach and the gates went up to the top before restarting back down... and didn't get down until 1 second before the train crossed. I'll get that video up for sure tonight or tomorrow.
Cheers,
Joshua

I hate constant warning time myself. They need a method around industrial areas on busy roads where a switch (like on the rail lines) can be turned to shut them off and flip it again when ready to move.SantaFebuff wrote:Behold the mighty beast.
