It's a trend on most all Union Pacific lines that have allow Metra to occupy their rails to see these little signals protection the pedestrian crossings on platforms and at stations. My friend and I came across one of these signals guarding a sidewalk on the Union Pacific Milwaukee Sub / joint / Canadian Pacific C&M Sub. This line features no Metra, so seeing it was very strange. Sort of a funny thought, the bell is almost bigger than the signal itself!

It is very hard to see, but if you have good eyes you can make it out on Google Street View
