Who the hell paints aluminum? Looks great for a month or two, then fades off to absolute crap, and gets all over you. You have to use special paint for aluminum, or it won't apply correctly.
Anyway, I sometimes sit in my truck with the door open and the A/C on. Hell, I even ride around with the window down and the A/C blowing. Good ole diesel just a smoking! (That was for your cousin Robert Gifted)

Hey, Kody, I guess what I am saying is maintainers using regular paint (silver, black etc.) on aluminum parts. Aluminum, as you know, has a very unique chemical compound to it, and traditional paint will not adhere to it like it will to metal, it either falls off later, or turns to a powdery mess that gets all over everything. You can prep the surface with special treatments and such to get it to stick, or use special paint for aluminum, and it will stick, but thats quite a pain. But like a gate mechanism cover (aluminum one) why paint one? If it is aluminum, get a wire brush on a drill and scrub it over and it will shine like new!
Aluminum backgrounds are the absolute worst. I have replaced many aluminum backgrounds in favor of steel backgrounds, because the paint just won't stick properly to the aluminum ones. I mean, for a little while it will be ok, then one day, it is all crappy looking. I don't have the time or patience to prep it and then put on paint. How much extra is this special paint to paint aluminum with, and is it commercially available, and easy to use? Sherwin Williams Wrought iorn (FLAT) black spray paint is what I use, and it works great. -On Steel backgrounds. I'm not fooling with a messy open paint can and brush, I hit mine with a spray can every 4 years when I do relay tests, and they stay nice and black. (And Sherwin Williams "Silver Brite" is the best thing in the world for cases and such)
