Do you have the bell upright when you apply power to it? Mechanical bells will only work when upright. My WCH Model 333 and the WRRS bell I got in September operate between 6 to 17 Volts D.C.
I don't know the certain specifications for Griswold bells though, but I'm sure Rick would.

If everything is clean and not bent or bad wiring, then a new coil magnet would probably fix it.

I recently purchased a number of crossing bells, including a Griswold, and the RACO equivalent. What I found interesting, was the fact that the RACO bell still has the old "GRISWOLD SIGNAL COMPANY" lettering cast into the rear door (although roughly, and not very visible), with "RACO" just above it. Is this something that you guys have seen before? I've looked at photos of many RACOs, but didn't see any with this lettering still on it.
The Griswold has a frozen hammer, so it's going to need a bit of TLC before it can ring again...but it's in otherwise pretty decent shape.

Oh, can you get photos? Is there a date on the bell or the documents inside of it? I personally haven't heard of that.
Cheers,
Joshua

No dates...only document in the bell is a visual schematic for wiring.

If you look very carefully I think you can see some wording under the Raco stamp... pretty sure I can see the WOLD in the darker area to the left of the Raco.

Ahhh... I see what you meant. Sorry.
