OK, today I revieved a nasty Youtube message Regarding William's Ditch Rd. Now the problem is I called the cops on the truck you can see at 0:25-0:29 just about to go around the gates. Now I pan to the right looking down the tracks, and out of view, the truck goes around the gates. You can see the bed of the truck at 0:56-0:58. Now Here's the message I recieved from this person:

"I like trains too .. but I am not a rat. Its nosey people like you with cell phones that ruin peoples lives. That poor guys insurance probably went up cause of you and it was none of your business to begin with. Worry about yourself instead of what everyone else is doing. By the way if you have nothing better to do than sit at a railroad crossing and be a "cop wanna be " then you should really consider getting a life .. or help, HAHA"

Tell me if I did the right thing...

I would've done the same thing. The truck did something illegal, and someone just happened to have caught him doing it. If I was in the same situation, I likely would've done the same thing, if I had a chance to get the license plate number in time.

That person who sent you that message had no right to do that. It's people like him that give rail and signalfans a bad name.

I agree with Mike, you did do the right thing. One question, who sent the message, the guy who went around the gates, the police, or another motorest?

It was a youtube person. I deleted the message not long after they posted it.

I don't care if someone busts the gate in half running the crossing. It's their problem. I'll just call the railroad to come out and fix it...

Agreed...I've seen it time and time again...police can't do squat unless they observe it with their own eyes... It's a good thought, but just stay out of it...No need to get too upset about it...What's done is done...At least you have the power to delete those kinds of messages

While I won't say you did anything wrong, it isn't what I would do. I had a woman blatantly blow through a red light on me today. I honked my horn at her, managed not to hit the car, and went on my way. I could have chased her down and called the cops but I didn't. Not worth my time in my book. Call it a personality difference or whatever but the only time I would call the cops on somebody going through the gates is if they got hit by the train.
