First SD40 retired

i just learned that CN has retired Illinois Central 6071. Built as GM&O 950, it was aquired through the 1972 merger. I really hope this unit is given new life as a shortline workhorse or donated to a museum.

Also I searched everywhere on what will happen to IC 6071, and all I found was that 6071 will probably bite the dust. Image

sorry but the Canadian National railroad has the absolute right to retire any of their locomotives they wish. If its time for that Locomotive to retire, than its time. I am sure that SD40-2R has had a good haul in its service. We will surely miss it.

I read in a magazine that the 6071 and some other IC SD40's will be given to another railroad, i forgot whick one, but i think its a shortline.
