They do that so planes that are landing won't hit the signals.

I am also a aviation lover too besides a crossing lover , so I actually know about their purpose. I just thought the location was kind off awkward. Too me, It will look better If they install them on a separate pole near the signal. But thanks for telling me though. :Smile:

Nice observation, sorry if I get of the signal topic, but the pole is near the cantilever. So if the plane lands, the pilot doesn't need multiple lights to close to each other. Most airports I have plane spotted at, the lights will always have a good distance away from each other. Its a FAA rule.

Makes sense. Would just think they would have chosen to put the light on the streetlight, versus the cantilever. But then again, the pilot probably knows to avoid those lights altogether I suppose.
