Interesting bell replacements

Today I was at the California St. Railroad crossing in Redlands, CA. According to the site, a couple of years ago this crossing had GS e bells. When I went there today, i saw that the gs bells were replaced by what looks like a early safetran and a wch bell! What's even more interesting is that both bells were very dirty/rusty.

The change must have happened a while back because the mechanical bells are there when GSV went through in early 2011, but who knows.. and is the wigwag at Nevada Street still there as well? It seems to me that the line is dead considering that there's no longer any power to the Nevada Street wigwag.

This is a good sign that the line is abandoned from Nevada Street and on-wards:

The signals appear to be in good condition farther down the line until the tracks are cut just past I-10.
