In November of 2011, the crossing on Morse Blvd. in Winter Park, FL, had two GS e-bells, one of which was on a really short gate mechanism mast.

How ever, when streetview came back through there in May of 2013, the e-bell on top of the gate mechanism was replaced with a mechanical bell.

Has anyone else seen anything like this, BTW?

Yep, a crossing in Redlands, CA had GSI e bells but they were replaced with a RACO and a WCH mechanical bell.

That crossing was owned by CSX in 2011, and it's now owned by SunRail. Maybe that has something to do with the change?

There's a ped crossing on Sprinter out in Escondido that originally had dual Type 1 Electronic Bells. Over the years both were vandalized, the first getting replaced by a Safetran mechanical and the second by a WC-Hayes mechanical bell.

Downgrades? Upgrades? All in the eye of the beholder!

I've heard that in some cases, the local environment can damage the electronics in those bells to the point where mechanical bells are a must. Either that of the e-bell broke and a mechanical bell was the only thing available.
