I do not understand why they have to do this. It is really ridiculous!
During the CN Years :

Now:The Grenada Railway:

I am not joking, all crossings down this line have those generic crossbucks. Even all signals have been equipped with E-Bells! Whats worse? the line was shut down north of the city and those signals that still needed upgrades where upgraded anyway! Funny thing all signals remain as if they are active, but apparently the wayside signals speak otherwise!

Another example this time utilizing a gateless signal!

And a beautiful piece of history, of the old skill with crossbones signal!

Well the line certainly picks up again somewhere because I found this well north of Grenada:

EDIT: the wayside signal here is also turned:

Could it be possible that the railroad just abandoned usage of wayside signals?
Also, if you searched through every crossing, you'd know that not all crossings have those fauxbucks.

Yeah turns out the north side of the line was kept open, and only the south end was abandoned.

Also did some search south of grenada, looks worse down here! Piled up grass on tracks, and mechanisms without gates!

Another crossing in the same scenario 3 cities down
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Grena ... 2682955c93
6 cities down, again with the ugly signs!

I believe I already posted about this line in the "Tracks out of service" thread, although I didn't realize that there was this much history behind it, nor did I realize that this was the same line that had the skull and crossbones crossing signal on it.

Well there you go, you learned something new today!

Although I am interested on checking out your post on this line. I will check it out later. Also I have a package with more photos coming by mail of the Skull And crossbones signal that are nowhere to be found on the internet. I will also share those later this week!

It's a shame to see part of a line that contained history out of service

although the reason it's out of service is quite absurd from the railroad's perspective, in my opinion.

A closed Amtrak station down the line with boarded windows. I never thought I would ever see something like this!

Also note the new cantilever with new L.E.D'S! But removed gates. I mean, what railroad installs new L.E.D's on a abandoned line?
Funny thing this crossing used to only have incandescent's until 2009, which is the same year that the GRYR Abandoned the S. Portion of this line!

Same Street in Durant, but one year before the railroad abandonment,2008. It was a freaking WRRS Cantilever! Thats a really big update!

I'm still amazed that they decided to upgrade the signals only to take the line out of service. Reminds me of a crossing in Scottsboro, AL.
