Pretty much immediately after the northbound train passed, the signal at the north end of Athens siding turned green for a southbound train to come through. As such, I decided to head one block south and record this crossing since I hadn't recorded it in about 4 years or so. After a little while of waiting, I heard a horn to my north, and this southbound intermodal train came rolling through with easily the best lash-up that I saw all day: a YN2 AC44CW leading a YN3b Dash-8 and a YN3b SD40-3! Interestingly enough, the SD40-3 is the same one that I saw as the power for the Notasulga-based local on the CSX WofA Sub last year.
In the four years between my last video of this crossing and my current one, nothing much has changed to this nice pair of older L&N signals. However, interestingly enough, it appears that CSX has replaced the Safetran Type 2 that had been here with an NEG e-bell, despite the fact that the Safetran Type 2 was one of the later ones. I'm honestly not sure if the Safetran Type 2 died, or they just chose to replace it here so they could re-use it at Moyers Road in Tanner, for some reason.
