Signal on the left: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights and a General Signals Type-2 Electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of Safetran 12x20 inch lights.

This is also the only crossing on the NS in Limestone County that's gateless.

No major changes here as of 1-1-20:


Sadly, this crossing is set to be closed once the new overpasses at Old Highway 20 and Greenbrier Parkway are built, due to the fact that the new yard will be going right across the road just behind where my camera is.

So, there was no foresight at all when they constructed Greenbrier Parkway to grade separate the crossing to begin with?
Seems like a waste of money to turn around a few years later and change the crossing.

Huntsville had wanted Greenbrier Parkway to be grade-separated to begin with, but I'm guessing ALDOT and/or NS didn't want to spend the money on grade-separation there. Plus, any bridge that had been built would have to likely have been rebuilt due to the new yard going in there (as I doubt it would've been built to accommodate much more than the mainline).

And here's an aerial shot of the construction of the yard around Greenbrier Parkway, which runs through about the middle of the frame: There's also no-doubt that the equipment will be re-used elsewhere along the line, given how old it is.

No major changes as of 11-1-20:


However, progress has been steady on the new overpass at Greenbrier Parkway, so this crossing's days are definitely numbered (as this crossing's due to be closed once the overpass there opens). Work has also begun on the new overpass at Old Highway 20, which will actually swing just south of where that crossing was.

Its Sad We Are Losing This Crossing. It Was The Last One In Greenbrier AL After Old HWY 20 And Greenbrier PKWY Closed.
