While I was waiting on L447, I heard the dispatcher tell M648 that they'd be seeing M515 at Wartrace, and would most likely be waiting a while for them there. As such, after catching the local freight, I raced on up to this crossing in Bell Buckle to try and catch M515, thankfully getting here with a few minutes to spare. Here we get to see CSX M515, with an AC44CW leading an SD70MAC, an ES44AH, a pair of ET44AHs, and another ES44AH for power.
You can also hear the defect detector just north of this crossing reading-out after the train passes.
It's been quite a while since I last recorded this crossing, hasn't it? Since I last filmed it, the signals here were given an LED upgrade by CSX sometime between 2018 and 2020, though thankfully, not much else has changed to this crossing. The closer signal even still retains an old RECO incandescent gate light on the tip of it, which is great to see.
I'm especially glad to see the old GRS gate mechs from the L&N are still going strong here. This was the first crossing I ever recorded with some all the way back in 2015, believe it or not. Hopefully these classics remain here for many more years to come, but, either way, I'm glad I finally got them filmed again.
