Just beyond Monroe Street is where the defunct Huntsville Utilities Spur crosses Monroe Street (http://www.rxrsignals.net/Alabama/Huntsville/Monroe1/). The tracks for the crossing have been blocked off at the switch (they filled in the flangeways leading down the spur there) and probably hasn't seen a train in a long time. However, the HMCR still maintains the crossing as it currently has a crossbuck, a DOT tag, and one of those blue emergency information signs at it.
