Just noticed that the US 231 shields that were posted here have been removed.

That crossing could really use gates, especially with all those cars just going through like that.

The HMCR doesn't want to have to deal with the liability (and/or extra expense) of having to maintain any gates.

Seriously? What's going to happen if an accident happens there?

The driver can still be found at fault. They were the one who ignored the signals.

It's partially based on train count and track speed as well isn't it? IMO I don't think it really warrants it. Yes, cars do go through after the lights start flashing, but once people see the engine is close, they stop.

*originally recorded on 12-13-18*

Signal on the left: 5 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs and a General Signals Type 2 electronic bell.
Signal on the right: 7 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with Dialight Ball LEDs and a (dead?) General Signals Type 2 electronic bell.

This was the second crossing I caught the HMCR at on my evening chase. There are no major changes here, though it sounds like the bell on the larger signal might be dead now.
