I've seen many comments in the past about "GS Type 3s" and pretty much all of those were lone wolf things, but now there seems to be a legitimate Type 3 popping up around the US. I've seen several examples now on BNSF and NS. I believe there's a new board inside because this tone rings slightly faster, even though it's lower pitched, and going lower on a Type 2 board would make it ring slower. Not much is known about it at this time, but here are a few videos I've found/taken of this bell so far.

They've also popped up on the Wisconsin Southern. AndyWS has a video of one on that railroad.

I recently got a new General Signals bell as a birthday present. It was purchased through Railroad Signal International (RSI). The model number on the box is EB-3-360-5. It sounds similar to the bells in the previous videos. The date stamped inside the base is 12/15, and on the board inside it says GS430 Rev D 12/14. I hope this information helps. Does anyone think it is a type 3?

Also, as we probably all know, one has popped up near me on the Alabama & Tennessee River Railroad, though there may be more along that line.

I didn't realize it till today that I actually got video of four on the Sierra Railroad in Oakdale, CA. At first I just passed these off as hyperactive GS Type 2's.

I found 2 at Carpenter Rd in Colfax, CA. They replaced a set of WCH Mechanical Bells.

There's possibly another 2 at the Clipper Gap Rd crossing as a pair of GS Bells replaced WCH E-bells fairly recently.

There's a pair at Union Street, Windsor in Melbourne.

As probably most of us now know: Alabama Street in Courland, AL now has a pair of them.

This crossing was just recently upgraded, there are some Type 3 bells on it
