Actually there may be 4 uses... crossing signal, traffic lights, street lights, and wayside signals for trains.

Also, check out how low the left turn lane signals are mounted on the cross street. They even did the same thing with the signal on the other side I guess so they are both at the same level.

Wow ... I have NEVER seen that much stuff on one pole before!!! As if all the signals weren't enough, the street light and the lighted street name sign are the straws that really break the camel's back.

I have seen several places in Illinois and Oklahoma where traffic signals and railroad crossing signals are mounted on the same poles. However, in Texas I have not found a single instance of this. The traffic signals and railroad crossing signals are ALWAYS mounted on separate poles. I don't know if this is a TxDOT requirement, or if there is some sort of liability issue. I could imagine a case of a city traffic light maintainer messing up some wiring on the crossing signals when they fixed something on the traffic lights, etc.
