Here's the crossing where the accident occurred, the signal on the right is no more:

And here's a photo from Facebook showing the signal still flashing! It was apparently caused by the truck bottoming out on the railroad crossing.

It was apparently caused by the truck bottoming out on the railroad crossing.

It's quite clear here that the truck driver missed the "Trucks Prohibited" sign.

Also, looks like the signal had been upgraded to LEDs ever since GSV went through there, which wasn't all that long ago!

Yea, apparently that entire line has had an LED upgrade by NS.

Not the first time I've seen the aftermath of a train hitting a truck.

Wow! That was a moving truck too! I feel sorry for the family that had their stuff in there.

According to this article, the truck driver received four citations. Apparently he only went that way because his GPS told him to.

And that's why I tend not to trust GPSes.

Honestly, I use a GPS when I need to. I always look at traffic as well and let my GPS redirect me, in addition to paying attention to posted signage.

A good truck driver shouldn't even need the signs. You can see here how elevated the track is from the road. And look at all of the scrapes in the middle of the crossing. Even low riding cars probably have issues getting over that.
