Argh!

I just discovered (about an hour or so ago) that my windshield has a 4" crack in it. The local Hyundai dealer quoted me $250 parts and labor. I'm going to drop it off so they can fix it on Monday. Not really what I had in mind but such is life.
Sorry...just needed to rant.

do you know how it got the crack?

From what I can see, it appears a fairly decent-sized rock chipped the surface. As it is right on the edge of the molding, I never noticed it and the great fluctuation in temperatures we had (went from 72 to 30 in less than 24 hours) caused it to weaken and finally crack.
Older Hyundai glass is notoriously weak and this is the original windscreen so I'm glad it lasted this long.
