Sick e-bell in Japan

Found this on YouTube:


I must say, this is quite an interesting sound to hear from a bell! I wonder why it's doing that.
Also, a bit of interest is that this crossing uses the larger lights that are typically reserved for the overhead lights on cantilevers there, and the lights are also incandescent!

Sounds like the tone or pitch or whatever raises and lowers for a bit at random intervals.

I'm thinking maybe a little moisture in the circuitry somewhere could be the reason for that. I have a feeling WCH e-bells suffer from that same problem.

Very true. It would make more sense to put the "brains" in the relay cabinet (with all the other sensitive equipment) and have just the housing with a speaker outside where it is exposed to the weather. If the speaker part got damaged it would be an easy trade out.

I'm sure though if something like that existed it would be more expensive and require a lot more work to retrofit onto older crossings.
