Signal on the left: 1.5 pairs of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs and 1 Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights with a WCH 2nd Generation LED.
Signal on the right: 1 pair of Safetran 12x24 inch lights with WCH 2nd Generation LEDs ,1 pair of Modern Industries 12x24 inch lights with a WCH 2nd Generation LEDs, and an NEG electronic bell.

This crossing is another nice crossing along the CSX S&NA North Sub, as it's one of the few remaining crossings along the line to still have Modern Industries lights! And yes, this is the same Mooresville Road that the crossing in Bella Mina, AL on the NS Memphis District East End is located on.
They/Them for me, please.

No major changes to the signals themselves yet as of 12-31-23, but an upgrade here is coming soon, it seems.

The day prior, CameraBryan alerted me on Facebook that CSX was starting to upgrade this crossing, as he'd noticed some new foundations in at this crossing. As such, I made sure to drive on up to this crossing, where there are indeed a pair of new foundations in place, one of which you might be able to see on the far side of the crossing. It seems the upgrade has only just started, as I only saw these foundations here and not any conduit or new relay cases yet.
It'll be a shame to see these classic L&N signals go though, I believe this crossing is one of the few outside of Athens where you can still find older MI 12 inch lights along the CSX S&NA North Sub. Also, speaking of lights, the two LEDs on the rear pair of the far signal have also had their arrays pop out of the gaskets more recently, it seems.
I think this is also the first time I've ever filmed both of the crossings on this road in one day.
They/Them for me, please.

Got my last video of the gateless signals here on 5-15-24:

The new signals were already on site awaiting installation, and would be installed and activated by the following week.

*originally recorded on 5-23-24*

Signal on the left: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.
Signal on the right: 2 pairs of WCH 12x24 inch lights with Leotek EV Series LEDs, an NEG electronic bell, a Safetran-banded Siemens gate mechanism, and NEG LED gate lights.

After I shot 288 in Huntsville, I continued on out to the S&NA North Subdivision to see about getting the new signals here in Thach in action. After a bit of waiting, I was able to catch my third train of the day: CSX M524 with an ES44AH leading an ES40DC for power.

As you can see, since I last recorded this crossing, CSX has replaced the old gateless L&N signals here with some brand new gated ones. Interestingly, although one of the new signals here would've originally featured a reused(?) Invensys Rail gate mechanism, it was replaced with Siemens gate mechanism with what appears to be a reused Safetran cover. Certainly a bit of an odd change.
