I'm a little late posting this, but since making the video I have discovered more about the crossing.

This is a private crossing and was installed in August 2007. The signals were a prototype for a low cost warning device for private crossings, I'm not aware of any further installations so I'm not sure how successful the trial was. The design is similar to older failsafe crossings which used to exist, although this one uses green lights instead of white.

Looking back at GSV in 2008 the lights were originally facing forward and were a different colour. There were tall extensions attached to the masts to accommodate the crossbucks and stop signs, very odd indeed! https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-29.792 ... 328!8i1664

By 2010 the signals had been converted to their current configuration, with green lights https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-29.792 ... 312!8i6656
